Advice From Suze

I was able to catch the Oprah on Tuesday with Suze Orman explaining the state of the national economy, and how everyone can better manage their own personal "household economy" during these times. I was honestly scared straight! Suze stressed that now is the time to "buckle down" and stop overspending and really save your pennies. Oh dear.

This hit home for me, because although D and I have been doing okay financially, we could definitely be saving a lot more! So, I immediately thought of 3 ways I can start saving:

1) DIY Manis and Pedis - Yikes, this one is going to be tough. I am going to miss the solace of the pedi chair. But given that it is now autum and my toes are less public, I think I can handle my own manis and pedis. Also, the benifit of being a beauty product addict is that I have all the tools to do a great mani/pedi at home!

2) Eat at home more - This has been a long standing resolution. I want D and I to have homecooked meals, but some days it is just easier to go out. I desperately need some recipes, anything quick with few ingredients! If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

3) Subscribe to Magazines - This is honestly just laziness. There are several magazines that I buy at the grocery store every month! If I just subscribed to them, I would be paying much less per magazine. Also, this deal at Hearst is still in play, so now is a good time to stock up!

So these are my resolutions, and I think they are easy enough that I can stick to them. If you have any great money-saving tips, please pass them along. It seems to help me keep from worrying about the economy when I feel like I am doing something proactive!

Have a great day!

Good idea on the magazines...I always pretty much just get a mani-pedi on a special occasion and our grocery bill has gone down A LOT since the kids moved to school. Of course, there's the whole college tuition thing...hmmm...I don't think the lower grocery bill quite offsets that. LOL

I have posted a few recipes in the past and was thinking about starting to post them more regularly. (I just posted about lettuce wraps a week or so ago.) Your post was just the kick in the pants I needed to post more easy recipes. Keep an eye out for them! I would also love your reviews if you make any that I suggest!

PS: Tag, You're It!

I have tagged you on my blog to list 7 random things about yourself! I would love for you to participate, check out my blog for the rules :)
