Snow, Chili, Bliss…

This weekend was the first snow in this area. Saturday morning started out cold and rainy, but about mid-morning, something wonderful happened…It started to snow! It snowed all day long, huge snowflakes, and it was very, very beautiful! It never stuck to the roads, but the snow had a way of keeping everyone inside anyway. Any plans I had to run errands or generally leave the house vanished, and instead, D and I worked on home improvement projects together and watched the yule log. At about noon, D suggested that we make the chili that I was going to make on Sunday.

I was nervous because I didn’t have all of the ingredients, and I didn’t want to leave the house and drive in the snow (I have found that snow is the perfect excuse for avoiding anything. As in, “I can’t make the bed because it’s snowing!”)

I made the chili anyway, substituting some things in, and made some yummy garlic bread to go with it. It was spicy and good, perfect for our snowy day!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Yum ... no worries on not having all the ingrediants -- when S makes chili he just pops in whatever we happen to have and it's always delish!
