The Last Drops of Summer

I have been living in a state of denial these past few weeks. I am completely aware that schools have started, the weather is changing, there are mums at Home Depot and pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks (!)…I know what these things mean…but I just can’t accept that summer is over!!

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE autumn…In fact, it is probably my favorite season. But summer went by SO fast this year; it is like I blinked and it was over!! I am having a hard time accepting that I didn’t go to the beach or sit by the pool or go to an outdoor concert this summer. I also didn’t get into bikini-shape like I wanted, but then again, I never wore a bikini! Hee hee.

I have decided that this weekend, I am squeezing out the “last drops of summer” before I move onto fall! D and I are going to NYC for two nights on a “summer weekend trip” and then, when we return, I am going to be ready for fall, and I promise to stop moping about summer being over!!

You would love a trip to Beaufort. Since we have the summer house, we've never stayed at the Beaufort Inn, so I can't vouch for the accommodations but I CAN vouch for the food. Delicious. I did a post sometime back in the summer about a couple of trips we made for lunch and brunch. I've never heard anybody say anything bad about the accommodations though.

There are all sorts of hole in the wall restaurants on Bay Street. Plums is good for a sandwich. Betty Jeans, across the bridge, has good home cooking kind of fare. I hear good things about Emily's right off of Bay...Port Republic St, I think. Haven't been yet but it is in the plan for our next weekend down there, which won't be; however, until after football season.

There is a fairly new Hilton Garden Inn. The Rhett House Inn is VERY highly rated and beautiful but again, I haven't stayed there.

I hope you get down for some fun and relaxation!

I am completely with you! I love fall, but I am not feeling it this year. I was decorated for fall last year at this time. Not this year, and I was at the beach. So I have no excuse. Enjoy your weekend getaway!
