Weekend Fun

Over the weekend, I saw the movie Twilight twice. Yes, that’s right; first with D and then with my sister who came to visit. The surprising thing was the different opinions about the movie. D was totally unimpressed! Being a guy, he was very critical of the special effects and thought aspects of the movie just seemed cheap and silly. His review would be two thumbs down…

My sister and I, on the other hand, liked it! Obviously by now, everyone knows that the reviews have been mixed, and the audience knows about the budget limitations of the film. However, I thought there were parts of the movie that were beautifully done, and I loved the books so much that it was just a thrill to see some of my favorite parts acted out on the big screen!! Also, any doubts I had about Robert Pattinson as Edward are gone! My sister and I agreed that he is, um, perfect!! If I weren't married and old enough to have been his babysitter, I would have a serious crush!

My only sadness is that I enjoyed reading the books so much that I am a little down about having nothing to read now. If anyone has any suggestions for good books, please pass them along!

I know nothing about vampire literature, sadly, but I will recommend the Jen Lancaster (www.jennsylvania.com) books if you haven't yet read them. They are wonderfully snarky, hilarious, lighthearted memoirs.

I heard that about the movie! How it got mixed reviews! However, I want to read the books before I see the movie.

From what I am hearing--all of the men hate it and the women love it! Sounds like definitely a chick flick!! I still want to see it!

I am reading the sequel to The Commandant's Girl -- The Diplomat's Wife. Easy reading and hard to put down.
