Clearly Canadian Redux

Does anyone remember Clearly Canadian? It was sort of a cross between a soda and a sparkling juice. The drink came in a glass bottle, and I loved it as a kid! I looked it up online, and apparently, you can apparently still buy it. Now, it comes in a more modern plastic bottle, so maybe I have just stopped recognizing it.

I used to drink Clearly Canadian all the time!! I can remember that my favorite flavors were “Summer Strawberry” and “Mountain Blackberry.” My mom would buy it for me while shopping at our favorite store, “Drug Emporium” and my best friend, Darling and I became addicted to it during summer camp and bought what felt like hundreds of bottles in the canteen! Yesterday, all of my childhood memories of drinking Clearly Canadian came flooding back with one sip of this…

I had a long day at work, but I needed to stop by the drugstore on my way walking home. I spotted the Izze drink and was intrigued. I was so hot and thirsty from my walk that I opened the bottle right after I paid for it and enjoyed it on the rest of my walk home. With the first sip of the Pomegranate flavor, I almost shouted out, “It’s Clearly Canadian!” The flavor tastes the same to me, and I was so overjoyed to be reunited with one of my favorite childhood beverages.

Even if the Izze drink doesn’t inspire the same walk down memory lane, I would really recommend it. It was so refreshing and light! Normally, after my commute home, I just want to collapse. But strolling home while drinking the icy-cold Izze drink left me completely refreshed! When I got home, I did four loads of laundry, made D a steak dinner, logged back into work, finished an assignment and stayed up and watched the Real Housewives of New Jersey episode!!

I loved Clearly Canadian! I haven't thought about it FOR YEARS. And not coincidentally, I LOVE Izze too! My favorite is the blackberry flavor. Delish!
