Homage to Cherry Blossoms

It is nearing the end of “Cherry Blossom Time” in DC, but it has been beautiful. On Sunday, the city celebrated springtime with the annual Cherry Blossom festival, but I was paying tribute to the beautiful trees and flowers in my own way. I was hosting a workshop for my division, and where I work, the best way to get people to show up for things is to provide food!

SO, I decided to make cupcakes and cookies in the theme of “cherry blossoms.” I did a search on Google images, and I was shocked to see how many different versions of cherry blossom cupcakes and cookies there were!

I liked these best, but I had a feeling fondant was involved which is beyond my expertise, so I couldn’t replicate them.

Mine turned out more like these. I apologize for not taking pictures, but after baking and frosting and running to the store twice on Sunday, reaching for the camera proved too hard. Hee hee

Next year, I will create something like this! (That was a joke.)
