Beach Essentials

Tonight I am leaving on a short vacay to the Riviera Maya. This trip came up very unexpectedly, but it has come at the perfect time because the weather in DC has been quite unpleasant lately! My sister and I are taking this trip together, so after work I am heading to her apartment in New York City, and then tomorrow we will fly to Mexico! I can not wait!! Sun, sand and guacamole…I am so grateful for this fun surprise!!

Right about now, I always start getting worried that I have forgotten something, because I tend to pack quickly and at the last minute. However, I started realizing that the beauty of going to the beach is that you don’t need a whole lot. Here are my essentials (other than my passport):

Sunblock! I haven’t seen the sun in months, so good sunblock is needed to avoid burning.
A big hat. Everyone acts embarrassed by my big hat, but I feel fabulous wearing it, so it gets packed!

Bathing suit! I had planned to splurge on a new suit, but I ran out of time! Target had some cute things in the swim department.
Books! Guess what came in the mail last night? Mommywood by Tori Spelling. I can’t wait to dive in.

Also, I totally bought this book, and I am semi-embarrassed to admit it, but I went to Target to buy sunscreen, and it just jumped in my cart!
Work has been stressful lately, so I am just going to let my mind rest for the next four days by reading "light" books and magazines!

As a Florida girl I highly recommend spray on sunscreen - no sunburned streaks where you missed applying!

Have a wonderful trip!

Have so much fun! You deserve it! Is that Bethany Frankel's book? I kind of want to read it to. Eat lots of guac for me. Oooh and drink margaritas.

How do you like Mommywood? I finished it in a couple days! I love Tori's sense of humor. I think of us as girlfriends. :)
Glad you had a great time in Mexico!
