Time to Hunker Down

I was totally unaware that yesterday was Groundhog's Day!
I think I was still recovering from hosting our small Super Bowl party on Sunday night. I ended up cooking and cleaning ALL DAY on Sunday, but it was a great success. We served: mini hamburgers with all the fixins (Bobby Flay), cocktail shrimp, pasta salad (Barefoot Contessa), chips, berry salad, guacamole with pita chips and coconut cupcakes (Barefoot Contessa). Also, even though I worked way too hard for a weekend, the apartment looks amazing! There is something to be said for actually cleaning rather than just shoving stuff in drawers and closets! hee hee
Anyway, back to Groundhog Day, according to the groundhog, Phil, we are in for 6 more weeks of winter. However, I just don't understand how anyone knows if he saw his shadow or not. Also, isn't that man holding Phil up in the air like that nervous that he is going to get bitten?? That groundhog does not look happy! Here is what I was able to find online about Groundhog's Day:
"According to German superstition, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early.

Since 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 97 times, hasn't seen it 15 times, and there are no records for nine years, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club."
Have a great day!

Hilarious photo. Wishing you a short winter, despite the 'hog.
